June 8th was a very important day for the whole of the UK, as adults across the country cast their vote for their next Prime Minister. Our enthusiastic and dedicated School Learning Council members thought it would be a great idea for Leagrave to hold our own election, where children were allowed to vote.
Our School learning Council members spent time researching the main parties and exploring their manifestos. Each member of the school council was allocated a party: The Labour Party, The Conservative Party, The Green Party or The Liberal Democrats. After lots of hard work, they were ready to start campaigning.
In assemblies, the school Learning Council members shared their parties manifestos, in an attempt to gain the votes of their audience. On 8th June, it was voting day. The hall was set up just like a polling station, where each class had made their own ballot box. Children and staff were allocated a time to vote, where their decision would remain anonymous.
The winning party was announced to the whole school via tannoy the following day and we are thrilled to say that the winning party for Leagrave Primary School was… LABOUR!
